Heart

My imagery involves a heart which is tied between two roses. I have left it mostly to the interpretation of the viewer. But I believe that the flowers symbolize the choices we make throughout our lifetime. Choices that can be for the best and worst of our future.

Well Off

This piece was inspired from when I was younger, we weren't as well off and one thing I remember loving to do was play dress ups. We had a few ball gowns my size that had either been handed down or sewn, they were well loved and quite tattered, especially a purple one that inspired the middle, coloured dress in my painting. As jealous as I was of some of my friends with their fancy, brand name clothes, I know that I had just as much fun and I could enjoy life just as much, no matter my circumstances. Everything other than the middle girl is black and white, showing the 'right or wrong' mindset many people have. I drew these people as young women rather than children because I want to remember this as I grow and even as an adult, I don't want to be focused on material possessions.

Same Love

One of the main meanings of the art pieces is that even though we are different on the outside we are still all the same on the inside. Doesn’t matter what race, gender or sexuality no one should be discriminated against. The words overtop of the images is the lyrics to the song “Same Love” by Macklemore because the way I interpreted the song it meant a lot to me. If you look at my pieces its up to you on how to decide what they mean to and what the overall theme is.

A Poem on Life With Tourette’s

It’s hard to see the world behind bars.

Locked in a cage I was born in

The sea-foam of the world skips my face

taunting me

The bars hold me back.

They expect a bigger man

why can’t they see that I am a child imprisoned?

I’m on an in-between level

I’m afraid I’ve lost my mind.

Sanity slips through my fingers,

I cannot grasp it.

The bars hold me back.

Definitely a human being

but they refuse to see my values!

my morals!

What kind of a person I want to be.

A mere twitchy-glitch in my speech

and the world sets me aside?!

People can be so cruel,

and it’s their unfortunate rules we must abide.

I try to speak out

I try to reach out

but the bars hold me back.

I thought I was all alone

alas there are others behind bars too

Tons of people just like me

who know what I’m going through.

I am a human- being,

I don’t care if they can’t see;

I can still make our world a better place,

and that I’m okay with being me.

Burning Bright

Burning Bright

The fire is burning bright

It is our only light

The ghost of a boy left forgotten

Dances across the screen

Water flowing over our gentle souls

Carrying away all the pain

Over and over and over again

Voices echo through my mind

If nature is so beautiful

Why do you tear me down

I am a part of nature

Significant as the leaves

I am the only one

who is true to myself

So why is my worth

not as valuable as yours?
